I spent the holidays thinking about how Web3 really dealt people a great blow in 2022.

I was tired. I was done. I said I’ll improve my Web2 marketing skills and get the hell out of this Web3 ecosystem.

But guess what, dear reader?

While I was reminiscing and thinking like that, Gamic was acquiring tons of users by the hour.

Like whoa! I thought we were all done after 2022 did us dirty?

Turns out we were not. Turns out I wasn’t too. Otherwise, why am I here at the beginning of a new year, writing the story of how Gamic acquired 100k users in 7 days? Nope, I’m definitely not done. I am bedazzled, intrigued and refuelled.

What Is Gamic?

Gamic Guild is the biggest blockchain gaming organisation in Africa. It was founded in 2021 and allows users to earn real money as rewards while playing blockchain games.

In Dec 2022, Gamic rebranded into a web3 social app that allows users to play games, chat/interact and swap crypto assets in one go. And this was the game-changer

In less than one week of launch, the Gamic app has recorded over 100k users, and the community feedback is off the charts.

In this interview with the founders of Gamic, I delved deep into Gamic’s secrets. You should get a notepad ready because this is where to take notes.

How does it feel to scale Gamic to this height in less than 2 years?

CEO: Even though we had a brief celebration, it felt normal because we have a larger goal that we are still working towards. So, it was back to work as usual.

COO: I’m glad that reaching 100k users quickly has been a great success for our team! This achievement has validated our team’s hard work and motivation to continue building a valuable product for our users. It’s always exciting to see such rapid growth as we surpass our goals.

CTO: I don’t think there is a word that accurately describes the depth of emotion achieving such organic growth in under a week feels like. It still feels like a dream.

How were you able to achieve this result?

BD: One thing the team did was to have a well-thought-out go-to-market strategy (although we had tweaks as we prepared for the launch). This helped us provide a clear path for our launch of the product.

Secondly, major announcements and engagements from our partners (Polygon Studios, BreederDao, Thetan Arena, etc.) contributed too.

A few media blogs took an interest in our story and made posts about us.

How could you handle the large influx of new users in such a short time?

COO: It’s all thanks to our dedicated Engineering team's hard work and preparedness. Their expertise has been invaluable in ensuring that our team can handle any challenge that may arise.

Technical and marketing departments are often at odds. How could you match the marketing results (100k users in 7 Days) without crashing/undergoing maintenance rounds?

CTO: 😂…… We crashed at a point and had to scale our infrastructure as the growth was unexpected.

There is a saying that the greatest problem you can have is scaling because that implies you have struck Gold. Striking it so early was truly a humbling experience for all of us, and we all rallied around to keep the engine churning as expected.

What were the biggest technical challenges you faced in building this solution that has achieved great milestones?

CTO: To list the technical challenges faced, I would require another article😅. But one of them was scaling up our infrastructure more quickly than we expected because our Q1 2023 milestone was crushed in under seven days.

Technical know-how is often a challenge for local blockchain companies, and some spend years trying to build an MVP. How were you able to prevent this issue?

CTO: I will say we were fortunate to find talented and highly skilled Engineers with the right mix of skills that had worked in some of the biggest Tech companies who bought into our vision to build the community of the future.

What marketing advice will you give to other COOs building in the blockchain space?

CMO:

  • Identify and target your audience: Determine who your potential customers are and tailor your marketing efforts towards them.
  • Position yourself as a thought leader: Share your insights and knowledge about blockchain through blog posts, articles, and speaking engagements to establish yourself as an expert in the field.
  • Use social media to your advantage: Utilise platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and Reddit to share updates, engage with the community, and promote your brand.
  • Attend industry events and conferences: Network and showcase your company’s offerings at events and conferences to reach a larger audience.
  • Collaborate with influencers and partners: Partner with influencers and other companies to reach a wider audience and strengthen your brand’s credibility.
  • Measure and analyse your marketing efforts: Use tools like Google Analytics to track the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns and identify areas for improvement.

How will Africa benefit from what Gamic is building?

CEO: It is difficult for me to predict the future success of Gamic. The blockchain space is highly competitive, and many factors can influence a platform’s success.

In due time we will roll out these announcements. Gamic is also positioned to become a key player in the communications/Chats platform space where companies can manage teams in a very decentralized way.

With the tools embedded in the platform specifically for gamers, communities can engage in gamified interactions, and gaming communities can be very innovative in their activities.

Gamic will bridge communications between web2 and web3 communities seamlessly.

One word of advice for others trying to build successfully in the Web3 space.

CTO: I will say the famous word in web3; “Turn off the noise and BUIDL”
