Interview with Andy Tang, CEO of Draper University

Blockchain has become a hot technology trend this year. As ICO (initial coin offering) investments are more and more popular, new ICO projects keep coming out. Many investors would like to seize the opportunity to fly high.

However, while facing a mix of ICO projects, many individual investors may pay a high price without gaining anything in return because they lack investment strategies.

Andy Tang is the managing partner of the Draper Dragon Fund. He is also CEO of Draper University. With 15 years of experience in early-stage investments, he recommends that individual investors interested in blockchain let venture capitalists investigate and follow their choices.

Initial Coin Offering

During an interview with SV Insight, Andy said this investment model has three advantages*:

For a start-up, they can find experts to endorse them before ICO.

For venture capitalists, they can get involved with blockchain startups in a better way.

For individual investors, venture capitalists will filter out the majority of unpromising projects and reduce risk.

Therefore, if an individual investor would like to start investing in blockchain technology, Andy recommends long-term investments in startups that have passed the criteria of professional venture capitalists and won their approval.

Google: Don’t be evil

Of course, successful blockchain investments require blockchain entrepreneurs “to be resilient and not to be evil”.

Blockchain as a young field presents as many opportunities as unknowns. An entrepreneur must be able to persevere while going through abstract and unpredictable difficulties. On the other hand, if entrepreneurs are not conscientious, they will cause damage to ordinary investors.
