Today we announce our strategic partnership with Polygon (previously known as Matic) — Ethereum’s Internet of Blockchains.

As some of you might remember, Blockchain Cuties Universe was the first full fledged cryptogame to be released on Matic Network, back in Summer 2020. It was a great launch that was preceded by a fruitful development period, during which we had a chance to work with Matic team directly.

We were amazed how quick, responsive and professional Matic guys were and since that time, we always say that:

“Crypto moves fast, but Polygon moves faster”

We started out $BCUG to be an Ethereum ERC-20 token and Polygon support for DeFi mechanics was always kept as the next step in our development schedule. Today we decided to change that.

We’re happy to announce that after some talks with Polygon team and careful research of the existing DeFi projects that work within Polygon perimeter, we decided to make both Gameplay Farming and Governance mechanics to be reliant on Polygon Technology, firsthand.

There are many reasons for that

At the moment it is too expensive to do gameplay related transactions on Ethereum mainnet and this situation doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. We don’t want to force our players to pay enormous gas fees if there is a way to avoid that.
Polygon Technology already has a working bridge between L1 and L2 solutions up and running. And it works with ERC-20 standard tokens (such as $BCUG) with no issues.
There is an operating governance infrastructure built on Polygon Technology that envelops many prominent DAO based projects. Blockchain Cuties Universe can utilize that.
It’s blazing fast.
Polygon team will support BCU both in both technical terms and through marketing collaborations.

The Partnership: How’s Blockchain Cuties Universe is going to interact with Polygon?

Having a great partnership experience with Matic in the past in NFT department, we continue our tradition and move two of $BCUG very important DeFi aspects of the game to be “Polygon First”.
Additionally we shall explore possibilities of moving remaining DeFi mechanics to Polygon and work together on promoting unique Polygon Cuties to the world.

Unique Partnership Subjects

Two of $BCUG planned DeFi mechanics (Gameplay Farming and Governance, Phase 1) will be released on Polygon, instead of L1 Ethereum as it is more beneficial to the final user this way
Polygon will be advertised as a recommended blockchain when dealing with DeFi aspects of the game
BCU will release some exclusive Cutie NFTs that will be redeemable only on Polygon network
