How Cuties Fight: Two Battle Mechanics
There are two types of Cutie battles in the game — the old round-based battles and the new HP battles.
The round-based battles are happening in adventures, while the HP battles are limited to tournaments.
Both battle systems are d20 based, but there is one key distinction between them.
The round-based battles have been around since 2018.
The win goes to a Cutie who won most combat rounds.
To win in a round, a Cutie has to perform a roll of d20 and add its combat stats so that the result is greater than the opponent’s.
For example, here, Skippy manages to overcome Croc’s defense.
And then Skippy manages to defend itself.
As a result, the round goes to Skippy.
If Skippy succeeds in at least two rounds in total, he will be declared a winner of the adventure battle.
The same battle system is used in raids. In this case, your Cutie needs to win in rounds against the boss.
The new HP battles are a bit different. In this case, the last Cutie standing gets the win.
Each round, Cuties bite into each other and try to decrease the opponent’s health pool. The Cutie that manages to reduce its rival’s health to zero wins.
For example, here, Jörmungandr manages to damage WD Tournament Fighter by 22 HP.
The battle goes on for ten rounds until the remainder of WD Tournament Fighter’s health is gone, and Jörmungandr is declared the winner.
The cool thing about the HP battles is the fight’s replay. You can see your pet in action and feel all the suspense seeing your Cutie fight.
In the future, we plan to expand HP battle mechanics beyond tournaments to bring you more engaging experiences throughout the game.
See you on the battlefield, Cutieneers!
