Artificial Lawyer’s Richard Tromans and Fred Svärd of legaltech.se talk to Global Legal Hackathon co-founders about the largest legal hackathon in history

Global Legal Hackathon co-founders David Fisher and Aileen Schultz chat with Artificial Lawyer about the inspiration behind the 40-city event and what to expect, as well as how participating teams could incorporate blockchain technology. (Podcast here.)

Fisher and Schultz of Integra Ledger originally came up with the idea to host the hackathon when they were discussing trust networks in relation to blockchain technology.

“The bigger the community, the more diverse the community, the better,” says Fisher, and when it comes to blockchain in particular, “the more functional and the more secure.”

Priorities for the hackathon are experience, experimentation, and education.

Fisher and Schultz want to stress that the hackakthon is free, and while you don’t need an idea ahead of time, they encourage participants to think about what issues they’d like to tackle during the event. Preparation is worthwhile, but not required.

“It’s wide open and agnostic,” says Fisher, who projects that the event could lead to the creation of 20 or more legal tech companies.
