Interest In Cryptocurrency Related Jobs Have Declined Since Beginning Of The Year

According to CCN, the recruiting firm AngelList Talent has discovered that the price of cryptocurrencies and interest in cryptocurrency and blockchain related jobs have stumbled since the beginning of the year.

Data from AngelList Talent found that when cryptocurrency prices rose, there was a significant increase in the number of cryptocurrency job openings. However, as prices fell the number of cryptocurrency job openings began to vanish:

“If you look at data from the year prior, October 2016 to October 2017, job seeker interest for roles related to bitcoin, blockchain, and cryptocurrency rose by 481.61%, while employer interest for roles related to the same terms rose 325%”

Furthermore, in March of this year 40% of the top job seekers on AngelList were looking into the blockchain industry. Now, only 20% of the top Angellist job seekers are interested in joining a blockchain company.

Numerous cryptocurrency companies have also announced layoffs in the past several months as cryptocurrency prices have declined, including Consensys.

Atari Will Relaunch Two Of Its Games With Blockchain Integration

According to Ethereum World News, the video game company Atari stated that it has created a partnership with the blockchan startup Animoca Brands to pursue opportunities to work together in blockchain development and game development.

In particular, Atari will relaunch “RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch” and “Goon Squad” with blockchain integrations. These relaunched apps will be available globally except for China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau. It should be noted that RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch has over 19 million downloads. Assuming the game successfully integrates blockchain technology, it could be the first game to truly bring blockchain to the masses.

This is not the first time that Atari has made a foray into the cryptocurrency market. In February 2018, Atari stated that they would begin investing in cryptocurrency. Soon afterwards, the company launched the Atari Token cryptocurrency.

Vitalik Buterin Gives 1,000 ETH Grants To Three Ethereum Startups

According to Coindesk, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin decided to give away 1,000 ETH to three different blockchain startups — approximately $300,000 USD in total at the time of writing. Buterin decided to donate these funds in response to some developers on Twitter stating that insufficient funding is a cause for slow Ethereum development.

The three startups that will receive the donations are Prysmatic Labs, ChainSafe Systems and Sigma Prime. Prysmatic Labs is focusing on ethereum scalability, while both Chainsafe and Sigma Prime are working on an Ethereum 2.0 client.

A member of Chainsafe, Mikerah Quintyne-Collins, stated that he would drop out of university if he received $100,000 USD in Ethereum. Buterin sent him the money and tweeted at him “I expect results!”. Vitalik Buterin provided transaction links on the Ethereum blockchain as proof that he sent the donations to those companies.
