Blockchain Short Story 015: Demystifying Token, Tokenized, and Tokenization

Recently on LinkedIn John Whelan posted:

„Is anyone else tired of the words “token”, “tokenized” and “tokenization”? I know I am. Maybe time for an article on the topic… :)“

IMHO:

🤷‍♂️ If we de-mystify it, a token is a good old book-entry in an asset register, happens to be on the blockchain, with access authenticated by a private key.

🪄 Where is the magic? In the fact that on blockchain people can meet on a shared platform for book-keeping that doesn’t need an intermediary to be operated.
