Unless you are hiding under the rocks, I’m sure you’d have heard of Decentralized Finance aka DeFi. After all, it is #trending and social media’s favorite topic these days, so far the #buzzword of the year! ⚡

Fun fact: DeFi represents under 6% of the cryptocurrency as of today. Having said that, it is one of the fastest-growing focus areas of the blockchain ecosystem.

The first quarter of 2021 has been an exciting one for the blockchain world. As cryptocurrencies gained prominence amongst the wider public fuelled by the media and social influencers, we also saw a rise in trends such as DeFi and NFTs. This growth has also led to an increase in interest and activity on blockchain dApps and projects from developer communities.

Keeping this in mind, we at Blockchained India and Blocumen Studios started with our 3rd cycle of ‘100 Days of Code’ in collaboration with Zilliqa, with the main focus on DeFi. As in the words by Amrit Kumar, Co-Founder Zilliqa, ” this initiative is one of a kind, as the participants in our next 100 Days of Code will get a chance to work around the most trending space right now, under the guidance of the best mentors from Blockchained India and trainers who are industry experts!”

We commenced in March and have completed 50 consecutive days of ‘collaborative learning’, which means we have finished half our journey! :D 💃

This journal chronicles the developments that have taken place in the last 50 days.

The program started with an introductory call with the participants, where all of us introduced ourselves and played some ice-breaking games to make everyone acquainted with each other. One such game was where everyone was asked what they had for breakfast. “It’s the fire to start working on something very exciting!” said one of the participants when asked about being so energetic for a Sunday morning.

Weekly calls and group discussions

There are some amazing group discussions in our Whatsapp group, where they talk through ideas and learn more about the space🤓. There they also post their queries where our experts make sure of no doubt going away unsolved!. The idea is simple: You get stuck somewhere, post it in the group and our warriors are ready to help you.

Discussions from our Whatsapp group

In one of their weekly tasks, we asked them to explain the concept of turing and non-turing in simple terms, and the explanations they came up with were simply amazing! Unraveling these difficult topics with such ease can only be done by someone who is enjoying learning! 🙇‍♂️

Explanation for Turing & Non-turing

All the participants are super enthusiastic in learning about Zilliqa and building their ideas. This can be seen through their daily tweets, and putting in an effort to make posts/gifs to share what they are learning with our dear community! ;)

They are also getting support and encouragement from the Zilliqa community and their founders who have been following their progress and liking & retweeting their tweets!!🔥

Learn & Earn!

Wait. whatttt? Yes, you heard it right!

Learning becomes way more fun when you are being rewarded for doing great things! Hmm, what say? And to add that tinge of excitement, we are maintaining a leaderboard where we reward participants with ZIL tokens for being top developers for the week and also for the month! Till now USD 5000 approx worth of ZIL tokens have already been disbursed. Well, we are eager to see who takes the game forward by being on the final spot on the leaderboard!

It’s a good opportunity to not only gain knowledge but also a chance to get a monetary return on your investment!!

Live Sessions by Industry Experts

It’s always best to learn tricks and traps from someone who is already into the industry, right?

For that, we organized some additional DeFi sessions with industry experts for the participants, where they talked about their experiences in the defi sector.

The first session was by Amrit Kumar, Co-founder, Zilliqa. He is also the Chief Scientific Officer and President of Zilliqa Foundation. Amrit talked about some key product ideas specific to the growing number of DeFi consumers on the Zilliqa platform. He also talked about the challenges in defi space.

The next session was by Pranav Sharma, Founding Partner, WoodStock Fund. Pranav in his talk shared his views on NFTs & how DeFi with AI is a huge possibility, which is going to flourish shortly. He also shared some hacks on how to remain updated with the cryptosystem in times like today.

A glimpse from the sessions (on the Roomkey app)

We have two more sessions lined up by Sachin Jain, Co-Founder Amesten Capital, and Opinder Preet Singh, Co-Founder ChainAssets Capital, this month.

The participants are now divided into groups to brainstorm the ideas they want to build. Let me warn you here⚠️. Some of the ideas these guys have come up with are SUPER INTERESTING! You might get tempted to hear them! :P So what are you waiting for? Follow their progress on our forums and hear them pitch on their Demo Day in July!🔥

Well with the inclusion of Zilliqa, I am 100% sure that this cohort is going to be a HUGE HIT! If you too are interested in learning blockchain development and wish to get mastered from “the very best”, then do join us for our next cohort of 100 Days of Code! 🚀🚀
