OSC, with support from BEN, organises first ever RegHackTO in Toronto,Canada.
From November 25 to the 27th, the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), with support from the Blockchain Education Network (BEN), MLG Blockchain Consulting and Bitmaker will be hosting a 24+ hour regulatory and blockchain focused hackathon called RegHackTO.
Initiated by the newly formed OSC Launchpad, the first dedicated team that provides direct support to new and early-stage Fintech businesses to navigate securities law requirements and accelerate time-to-market, its aim is to find solutions that help streamline the regulatory environment for both the regulators and the regulated organisations.

RegHackTO is one of the many hackathons supported by the Blockchain Gauntlet, a BEN initiative to help host hackathons around the world.

The Gauntlet provides support, a framework to host a hackathon, and also access to tools and API’s for the developers. The entries to all the hackathons will then be judged by a bespoke list of judges with extensive knowledge of the industry.
RegHackTO will start on Friday November 25th at 5PM at Bitmaker (220 King Street West Suite 200 Toronto, ON M5H 1K4). The developers will be able to work on their project in teams of maximum 6 people from 7PM on that day until 10AM on Sunday the 27th.
The hacks will be judged regarding three criteria: creativity (original use case), product (how does the app help the regulatory body) and execution (look, feel, UX/UI).
The panel of judges for the event include Maureen Jensen (Chair and CEO of the OSC), Chris De Bruin (President of Digital Platform, Zafin Technology), Adam Felesky (President and Managing Patrner of Portag3 Ventures GP INC.), Joseph Lubin (Founder, Consensys and Ethereum) and Doug Steiner (CEO, evree Corp.).
Developers will have multiple resources available to effectively execute their hack. Talks regarding the problem statement and the different blockchain apps available will be given before the beginning of the event. Also, some notable tools will be available from Sia, Chain Core, IOTA and more.
