Just like the shiny happy people who populate adverts for online dating apps, the world of mobile blockchain wallets operates its own bait and switch marketing.

Nothing to do with functionality, instead each shows a fictional screenshot of the wallet in action, with the accumulated tokens adding to a tidy dollar sum.

It’s all about psychological anchoring. Get this app and magically, you might end up with the same balance, somehow.

Racking up the digits

So, following a quick, totally unscientific trawl of the app stores, we can now see the range of value hinted at is surprisingly large.

The spectrum of blockchain wallet values

Starting with Trust (a general token wallet but one often promoted by games), it shows a modest $2.81 split between Ethereum, POA Network, Binance and Kyber Network.

AppCoins’ (

) wallet is similarly small in ambition, showing just $6.45, but given AppCoins is the specialist blockchain currency for app stores in emerging countries, perhaps the use case dictates not enticing users with high levels of crypto speculation.

GuildChat is

’s new social app-come-wallet. Currently the community is super-charged with TRON enthusiasts, who are driven by regular TRX airdrops, as well as creating and distributing their own faux TRX10/20 tokens.

No doubt that’s the reason behind the wallet’s nominal value of $970.46. That’s a lot of airdrops!

Hello big spender

From this point, the digits start to add in an impressive fashion.

’s wallet was one of the earliest to release and perhaps that’s reflected in its marketing total of $15,802.86, which comprises large amounts of Binance, Ethereum, Bitcoin, Bancor and Litecoin.

The largest total is Enjin’s own ENJ Enjin Coin. Sadly, compared to the price when the screenshot was created, 28,211 ENJ are now worth just $1,410.55.

More speculatively, DMarket’s ‘My Cryptowallet’ has an incredible total of $71,732.89, although if you look closely the totals for its DMarket Coin or DMarket Token make about as much sense as hodling $71,732.89 in a hot mobile wallet.

But the winner of the highest value of tokens displayed on a mobile wallet screenshot is BitCrystal’s recently released Casa Tookan.

As with DMarket, its total value of $162,321 doesn’t correspond to the amounts of Bitcoin, Ether or Spells of Genesis cards held, but a man can dream, right?

For comparison purposes, my Casa Tookan has a balance of $1.08.
