Blockchain Technology Partners appoints Paul Forrest as its inaugural chairman
Edinburgh-based enterprise blockchain startup BTP gears up for growth with this board appointment and its latest angel funding round led by Aberdeen Asset Management veterans Martin Gilbert and Andrew Laing
EDINBURGH — May 27, 2020 — Blockchain Technology Partners (BTP), the leading enterprise blockchain company, today announced the appointment of Paul Forrest as its inaugural non-executive chairman as the company looks to build on its initial success winning business in the US and Israel.
Paul Forrest has over twenty-five years experience as a strategy consultant. He has advised governments and worked with numerous FTSE 100 and Global 500 businesses including Ford Motor Company, Wal-Mart, Virgin Galactic and AkzoNobel. Paul is also a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Arts and the Institute of Leadership & Management.
“Paul understands the potential for growth in enterprise blockchain adoption, having been involved in this space for several years and at the cutting edge of successive waves of innovative enterprise technologies throughout his career,” said Duncan Johnston-Watt, CEO & Co-founder of BTP. “We are delighted Paul has decided to take up this role and help us scale the business and lay the groundwork for future investment.”
In addition to BTP, Paul serves on the board of several early stage businesses including MBN Solutions where he built out their Blockchain practice. He works closely with founders leveraging his experience as a business mentor with the Virgin Startup Program and as a founding member of the IdeaGist Blockchain Incubator.
“I am excited to be joining BTP at a pivotal point in their journey. Their management team has demonstrated an ability to develop a scalable product and close early enterprise deals,” said Paul Forrest. “Given the present circumstances I was particularly impressed by their ability to secure a contract with the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange to deliver their innovative blockchain-based securities lending platform.”
Paul also participated in BTP’s latest angel funding round which was led by Aberdeen Asset Management co-founder Martin Gilbert and former deputy Andrew Laing. Laing is now an active early stage investor and Gilbert joined the rapidly expanding fintech Revolut as group chairman in January 2020.
“BTP has an exceptional opportunity which is why we invested in the company in the first place,” said Martin Gilbert. “We are pleased to see that BTP has strengthened its corporate governance with the appointment of Paul Forrest. Paul’s experience complements a leadership team that has the vision and expertise to deliver their clear value proposition.”
“I have been impressed with the progress BTP has made over the last year, in particular their work with the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and their partnership with Digital Asset,” added Andrew Laing. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to follow on from my initial investment.”
