“During this spring there will be many changes in the blockchain space. For example, we will see some resolution on the debate about security and payment token regulations by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)”, says Vinay Gupta, an entrepreneur, investor and one of the famous forward thinkers of our time.

Gupta says that his latest Mattereum project might also be ready in the next two months with exciting consequences for the blockchain space. It is circled around a Stradivarius violin priced for $9 million. A team of lawyers, cryptographers, software engineers has been working on building a bridge between the real world legal contracts and blockchain smart contracts

The goal is that to make the violin not just a physical asset, but also a digital one, which can be programmatically tokenized and sold to multiple investors. Mattereum’s goal is to do the same for things that computers and smartphones have done for information over the past 30 years.

Who is Vinay Gupta?

It is the third time Vinay Gupta joins us at Oslo Blockchain Day, and we are very excited about this talk on the violin and blockchains liberating effects on the society and business.

Vinay Gupta (46) is a graduate engineer and has researched various materials at universities in both India, Germany and Japan. As his bio on wiki states he is: “Half Indian, half Scottish, and residing in Iceland, Vinay is an engineer at heart. Whether its software, physical structures, or social structures, the man is a tinkerer at an advanced stage of development. He has developed the self-sufficient Hexayurt, presented mass evacuation strategies to the Red Cross, and worked on policy papers such as Winning the Oil Endgame. Gandhi and Buckminster Fuller are two of Vinay’s heroes.”

In 2015 he helped to coordinate Ethereum’s release, and was the strategic architect of Consensys, designer of Dubai’s National Blockchain strategy. In addition to Mattereum, he is working on Hexayurt Capital, a fund designed to invest in the Internet of Agreements. They invest in companies that tackle real world problems like logistics and global trade.

Last year Gupta talked about how to use blockchain as a force for good. You can see his talk here. We look forward to his overview of the blockchain space in Oslo!
