As we usher in 2019, BlockCypher has been hard at work planning for the production release of Grinmint, our Grin mining pool software, and for the first U.S Grin Conference.

Grinmint will release into production 48 hours prior to Grin’s mainnet launch.

Grin mainnet has been announced as January 15, 2019 by the Grin development team. 48 hours ahead of this launch, BlockCypher’s Grinmint mining pool software will be ready to accept miners for mainnet, leaving plenty of time for all operations to get setup. Grinmint will issue fake blocks (with no payout) until the final Grin genesis block is ready. As soon as Grin’s genesis block is available, it will be broadcast to all connected mining rigs.

Note that Grin has announced that the genesis block will be issued with a timestamp 30 minute in the future in order to give everyone time to update.

Grinmint already has commitments from multiple miners. We will be ready to mine immediately at Grin mainnet launch with nodes running in the U.S. and Europe. New locations will be added as necessary.

BlockCypher platform’s availability has been 99.999% for the past 4+ years. We have the reputation for the most long-standing, reliable blockchain platform. Our hardened infrastructure has withstood the test of time, multiple attacks and forks. Our many customers have relied on us for up-times and reliability. The same operational rigor we apply to our infrastructure translates directly to Grinmint.

Please read our posts on How to Mine and Requesting Payouts to set-up your miner.

Limited time offer: Grinmint fees 0%.

Grinmint’s fees will be 0% on January 15, 2019 at launch. Our pool will collect no commission. This introductory offer is only available for a limited amount of time and we will adjust fees when the network settles. Going forward, we will be contributing a portion of our pool proceeds to fund the Grin Project.

Grincon U.S. tickets selling fast!

Two weeks after Grin’s mainnet launch, BlockCypher is hosting Grincon U.S. on January 28, 2019. It is the first ever U.S. Grin conference. We have put significant efforts in inviting diverse speakers and attendees. Help support these efforts by spreading the word and registering for the conference.

At Grincon U.S. an incredible line-up of speakers will cover a variety of topics, including: Grin for the layperson, how to mine for Grin, investing in Grin, use cases for Grin, and the cryptography behind Grin. For more info, see www.grincon.us

Many people are helping shape this conference — Lily Liu, Ivy Evans, Maddie Evans, to name a few. We are thankful to the Grin Core developers and committee members — Ignotus Peverell (Grin founder), Quentin Le Sceller, Daniel Lehnberg, John Tromp, Michael Cordner — for supporting Grincon U.S. We are also deeply appreciative of luminaries and some of the world’s top cryptographers — Dan Boneh, Benedikt Bünz, and Andrew Poelstra — for donating their time and expertise to speak at the conference.

As the Grin Project has no ICO, no pre-mine, and no founder’s reward, it is important that development be sustained by the community. This means for-profit companies like BlockCypher must support the Grin developers and projects for a healthy ecosystem to thrive. BlockCypher has continually supported the Grin Project by contributing development, expertise, and funds. BlockCypher is also donating proceeds from the conference back to the Grin Project.

We lead by example and hope other companies follow suit.
