Today, we are taking a look at the most popular online retail and service providers that accept cryptocurrency as payment. For this list, we looked at companies that have more than $100 million in annual revenues. We included everything from satellite tv providers to shopping platforms. Visitor statistics were taken from SimilarWeb.

Dish

When Dish Network started accepting bitcoin payments via Coinbase for their satellite TV service in 2014, it was the biggest company in the world to do so, with 14 million subscribers. Since August of last year, they also accept bitcoin cash.

Newegg

The online retailer best known for selling computer components and hardware accepts bitcoin via integration with Bitpay.

Corporate Traveller from Flight Centre

The UK-based corporate travel service announced in April that they would begin accepting bitcoin and bitcoin cash.

Overstock

In 2014, Overstock became the first major online retailer to accept bitcoin payments. At the end of 2018, CEO Patrick Byrne announced plans to sell the retail arm in order to focus on two blockchain initiatives: Medici Ventures and tZERO, a security token trading platform.

Digitec Galaxus

Switzerland’s largest electronics and general e-commerce retailers recently announced that they are accepting crypto payments at both Digitec and Galaxus online stores. This payment method is enabled through integration with Datatrans and Coinify, and is eligible for purchases over 200CHF.

Shopify

Canadian e-commerce platform Shopify allows merchants to accept over 300 different types of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, bitcoin cash, XRP, ethereum, and litecoin. This is possible through integration with Coinbase, GoCoin, Bitpay, and CoinPayments.

JM Bullion

Customers have been able to exchange ‘digital gold’ for the real thing on JM Bullion since 2016.

Microsoft

Users of the Windows and Xbox stores can pay with bitcoin as well as stablecoins like Paxos, USDC, and Gemini.

Amazon

While Amazon did make our list, it is unique in that it doesn’t directly accept cryptocurrency as payment. Instead, customers can pay with crypto via two external services, Moon and Purse. Moon is an extension for Chrome, Opera, and Brave web browsers that allows users to connect their crypto wallet. The merchants themselves never actually touch crypto, instead receiving fiat payment from Moon. Plans are in place for integration with AliExpress, eBay, Etsy, Domino’s, and Target.

Purse matches ‘Earners’ (people with Amazon gift cards who want to earn crypto) and buyers who possess crypto. The Earners then make purchases on behalf of the buyers, who receive a discount on their order.
