In the heart of Milan, Italy, EthMilan 2023 occurred from October 5th to 6th, 2023. This two-day conference drew together an impressive lineup of blockchain experts, developers, investors, and professionals passionate about blockchain technology. Hosted at the charming Palazzo delle Stelline, EthMilan promised an immersive and informative experience for all attendees.
The Event Overview
The conference featured a diverse group of renowned speakers, including Marco Severi, Sales Director at Kiln; Maria Magenes, Marketing Lead at Oasis; Dieter Shirley, CTO at Dapper Labs; Marco Monaco, Strategic Projects Director EMEA at ConsenSys; Ruslan Serebriakov, Senior Smart Contract Engineer at Trust Wallet; and Deyeon Kim, Growth Lead at Pods.
EthMilan’s agenda was designed to explore groundbreaking innovations in the blockchain space, including discussions on blockchain innovation, research, and its growing impact on various sectors. In a unique twist, the conference coincided with the Milano Design Week, hosting an interactive exhibition named “Inclusive Design: ETH Meets You.” This exhibit provided a fascinating look at how blockchain intersects with the design world.

Alex, the founder of Blockful, shared his thoughts on EthMilan:
“Talking about EthMilan, it truly exceeded my expectations. I initially thought it might be a smaller-scale event, which was partially true regarding sponsors. However, the quality of the audience was exceptional. We had a significant turnout of founders and developers, with strong representation from the European community. I believe I may have only met one American there; the rest were all from Europe — Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, and more. It was a truly regional gathering, and many outstanding founders were in attendance. I had the pleasure of meeting founders from Redacted Cartel, Superfluid, and several individuals from ICF, closely tied to the Ethereum Foundation and Zuzu Zalu. The European blockchain community made a significant impact at the event.”
Alex continued, “EthMilan was a well-organized and impressively engaging event. Of course, there were minor hiccups, like food line issues, but overall, they did a fantastic job, especially considering it was EthMilan’s inaugural edition.”
When asked about the keynote speeches, Alex shared, “The speeches were engaging overall. The Redacted Cartel unveiled their latest protocol for a stablecoin backed by ‘block uncle space,’ which is quite different and intriguing. They announced a product launch, which was exciting. There was also a hackathon, although I didn’t meet anyone participating. As for the exhibitors, I was most impressed by Linea’s booth. They had a significant presence at the event. Regarding the presentations, I might lean toward the Redacted Cartel’s announcement of their new protocol.”

No entanto, a qualidade do público foi excepcional. Tivemos uma presença significativa de fundadores e desenvolvedores, com uma forte representação da comunidade europeia. Acredito que só conheci um americano lá; o restante era todo da Europa — Itália, Suíça, Portugal e outros lugares. Foi um encontro verdadeiramente regional, e muitos fundadores excepcionais estavam presentes. Tive o prazer de conhecer fundadores do Redacted Cartel, Superfluid e várias pessoas da ICF, intimamente ligada à Ethereum Foundation e à Zuzu Zalu. Alex prosseguiu:
“O EthMilan foi um evento bem organizado e impressionantemente envolvente. Claro, houve algumas pequenas falhas, como problemas nas filas de comida, mas, no geral, eles fizeram um trabalho fantástico, especialmente considerando que era a primeira edição do EthMilan.”
Quando perguntado sobre as palestras principais, Alex compartilhou:
“As palestras foram envolventes no geral. O Redacted Cartel revelou seu protocolo mais recente para uma stablecoin apoiada pelo ‘espaço de tio bloqueado’, o que é bastante diferente e intrigante. Eles anunciaram o lançamento de um produto, o que foi emocionante. Também houve um hackathon, embora eu não tenha conhecido ninguém que tenha participado.
