June at Blockhouse was nothing short of phenomenal. With over 500 high-quality applicants expressing interest in joining our team, we’ve been hiring aggressively to scale our innovative efforts. We moved to a fantastic new space in New York’s Financial District, onboarded some incredible new talent, and managed to squeeze in some fun team bonding. This recap is a window into our culture for anyone thinking of becoming a part of our dynamic team.

Our New Home in the Financial District

The month kicked off with us setting up shop at our new WeWork location at 199 Water Street, right in the heartbeat of the Financial District. The vibe here? Absolutely electric. It’s the perfect backdrop for the groundbreaking work we’re doing in financial services and really fuels our creative and productive energies. Curious to see where we innovate? Welcoming Our New Team Members

In June, our team at Blockhouse grew with the addition of two machine learning engineers and two quantitative researchers. These new hires have been instrumental in developing novel market impact models, which they’ve seamlessly integrated with cutting-edge machine learning architectures. They are also actively authoring technical whitepapers to validate our trading strategies. Keep an eye out for their innovative developments that we’ll be announcing to the public soon.

Making Waves at Industry Events

We also made our mark at the Workshop on Financial Technology and Data Sciences organized by Professor Agostino Capponi at Columbia University. We presented our latest advancements in using specialized transformer architectures designed to minimize transaction costs and enhance trade execution. This session provided a detailed look at how our innovative models integrate enhanced temporal pattern recognition, dynamic feature selection, and multi-horizon forecasting.

These advancements provide clear improvements over traditional machine learning and reinforcement learning methods, leading to better prediction accuracy and more efficient execution strategies. Engaging with academic peers and industry experts, this collaborative environment allowed us to share our insights and refine our approaches based on feedback from leading academics and practitioners in the field.

Bonding Over Mini-Golf

To top it all off, we hit the mini-golf course for some team bonding. Congratulations to Takahiro for emerging as the Tiger Woods of the day. It’s events like these that knit us closer together, ensuring that while we work hard, we play hard too.
