Word on the BLOCK: 30th April 2019

Hello everybody and welcome to the latest Blocknet newsletter! This newsletter is released twice per month to keep the community up-to-date on what is happening with Blocknet. You can view all previous newsletters here.

  • The beta release of XRouter is live! A major milestone for Blocknet and blockchain as a whole has been achieved with the release of XRouter, the world’s first decentralized blockchain router. Developers can now utilize services on various blockchains without needing to have any of them installed. XRouter opens the door for multi-chain, lightweight dApps to harness contracts and protocols from different blockchains, allowing them to communicate and use each others’ specific features. XRouter lays the foundation for multi-blockchain architectures and an “Internet of Blockchains”. You can use XRouter by downloading the latest blocknet wallet 3.13.0 and using the XRouter API. Learn more about XRouter.
  • API documentation for XRouter and XCloud can be found here and XRouter Service Node Setup information can be found here.
  • Along with the release of XRouter, the latest wallet v3.13.0 has been released. The latest release is a mandatory wallet update for everyone. IF YOU DO NOT UPDATE YOU WILL END UP ON A FORK. Check out the full details here.
  • A successful Block DX trade using the forthcoming lite multi-wallet developed by CloudChains has taken place on the LTC-BLOCK market!
  • Stellar/XLM SPV calls and services are now available via XRouter:
  • Weather data XRouter call. Here is an example of one of the endless possibilities for oracalized data a user can build with using Blocknet’s XRouter protocol. This service allows a user to enter a city & unit of measure to retrieve current weather data, all through Blocknet (currently only on testnet):
  • A new channel, #dx-testing, has been created for open participation in QA of Block DX. This has been helpful with finding a few bugs that have been overlooked. See the pinned message for more information.
  • The beta release of XRouter was covered in 2 separate articles on CCN and Bitcoinist. A third separate article was also posted on the Blocknet blog that you can read here.
  • A new ANN thread on BitcoinTalk was published. Please come, comment and join in the conversation here!
  • XRouter use cases are being highlighted on social media and will continue through the coming weeks. Check out the examples so far here, here, here and here.
  • Redactedman continues to source talent for graphics and for article writing with a view to publish regular articles on crypto new sites. The first result of this was this XRouter article published on our blog.
  • Blocknet and the XRouter release made it into Blockfolio’s weekly summary of most significant signals. Take a look.
  • Discord Community member Mark K created a series of great info panels on XRouter that were tweeted out. It’s great to see the community putting their passion into action!
  • The proposals for Superblock 907200 can now be viewed here on the new blocknet forum. Voting will close on block 904320, but your node must remain active until block 907200 for your vote to count.
  • The in-progress (and previous) proposals can be viewed on, on or within the Proposals screen of the wallet.
  • Please note, proposals are being submitted to the forum individually so please make sure you scroll down and take your time to look over each proposal.
  • An introduction to Superblocks and a guide to submitting and voting for proposals, can be found here. There is also a proposal category in the Blocknet Discord for focused and specific discussion of proposals and ideas. Within this category, there is a channel called #anon-snode-feedback for Service Node owners to provide anonymous feedback on proposals.

Closing Statement (Goodbye!)

Many thanks for reading. We hope that you are as excited as us with what the future holds for Blocknet. A decentralization project fundamentally requires an engaged community, and so if you would like to help with anything, have something to add, use your professional skills or have a problem, we want to know about it.

Please also be aware that a community project is run by a diverse group of people with varying time-constraints (in a number of time-zones) and personal lives, so remember to be kind and patient!

If you want to be the first see these updates, you can receive the newsletters directly to your email by subscribing here. Our next update is due on May 15th. Until then we look forward to hearing from you!

The Blocknet Team.
