Introduction

This newsletter is published once per month and is aimed at keeping the Blocknet community up-to-date on the finer details of the project. For those who are new to the Blocknet, we recommend you also check out the latest Ecosystem Update for a broader understanding of our project’s progress and vision.

XLite public release— The long awaited XLite wallet 1.0 is now live! This release represents a major step towards our goal of building a user friendly fully decentralized exchange. Further updates to improve the user experience are already being planned. Supported coins include Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Blocknet (BLOCK), Dash (DASH), Syscoin (SYS), and PIVX (PIVX), with more to come!

Blocknet expanding development team — In order to more efficiently deliver on our roadmap, we are currently in the process of expanding our development team. The new team will have experience in a variety of languages, allowing us to parallelize development and provide a more tightly focused, granular costing and management methodology. This new approach coincides with the departure of Michael Madgett, a principal contributor over the past three years. We are very grateful for Michael having built the Blocknet protocol into what it is today, and are extremely excited for what the future holds as the next phase of development begins. BLOCK DX 1.9.0 released — We have release Block DX 1.9.0! This release automates the process of connecting to XLite for trading, which previously required some manual configuration.

Hydra development continues — We are continuing to develop and improve Hydra, our decentralized blockchain connector that will allow developers to access accurate and reliable blockchain information. What sets Hydra apart from centralized solutions like Infura, is that the nodes are not operated by a single organization, but a decentralized network of service nodes using Blocknet’s XRouter protocol. Governance

The next Superblock will take place at block #1814400, which is estimated to occur on or about February 22, 2021. The deadline for submitting proposals is block #1854720, which is estimated to occur on or about February 20, 2021. You can view the upcoming proposals on the Proposal Forum as they are posted.

Marketing

We are continuing to implement our organic and paid marketing campaigns for XLite and Hydra, which were approved by the community in the last Superblock. Find more details on the marketing campaign here.

Looking Forward

With so many important developments in the pipeline, we could not be more excited about the future of Blocknet and its impact on the DeFi Ecosystem. To stay up-to-date with the latest news, be sure to subscribe to our Newsletter. If you would like to contribute to the project, have something to add, or would like to report a problem, please let us know in our Discord or Telegram.
