ETH 2 launch is a go

Liftoff at December 1 @ 12pm UTC 🚀

The moment Vitalik tweeted about the news referencing the 16384 * 32 ETH target

What an historic moment for Ethereum! The required staking target of 32 ETHby 16,384 validators in order to launch the ETH 2.0 network has well and truly been exceeded. This has superseded my original thinking that launch will not be happening soon due to an initial slow inflow of ETH into depositcontract.eth.

Any doubt over the launch has now dissipated and Phase 0, the Beacon Chain and the foundations of the network, will launch December 1 2020 @ 12pm UTC.

This is truly incredible and the culmination of at least 6 years of research and has been possible thanks to things like BLS12–381, the hard work of Ethereum researchers, developers and many more people. Make no doubt about it, this is BIG for Ethereum.

Now it’s just a nervous wait between now and December 1. I am sure there will be a lot of people scrambling to get ready for this launch and to make sure that it goes as smoothly as it can. Thankfully we have had a few test runs at this now and should be in a strong position.

The future is decentralised, it will be immutable and it will change the world.
