It’s A Wallet, It’s A Casino… It’s BlockStamp On Your Desktop!

The BlockStamp desktop interface has now been available to download since October 25th. You can use the interface to access three of the core applications for which we have optimized the BlockStamp blockchain:

  • transferring value via BST, BlockStamp’s native crypto coin,
  • gambling BST in completely fair roulette and lottery games, and
  • storing, retrieving, and verifying historical access to digital messages, files, and signatures.

Obviously, a first-ever public software release is a major milestone for any technology project. But for the BlockStamp project, this interface is also a result of some key decisions that speak to our larger goals and approach to achieving them. We are what we ship! Here’s how:

The interface is a “Swiss Army knife” for the various challenges BlockStamp is — and will be — taking on.

With its applications, BlockStamp offers several specific ways to achieve the broad, overall goal of greater digital economic freedom.

While we welcome everyone to use BlockStamp in all these ways and get familiar with all of its capabilities, we understand that not everyone will want or need to. Accordingly, online interfaces focused individually on each of these applications — including an online wallet and a web-based casino with an interactive roulette wheel — are launching soon.

On the other hand, we have decided that the desktop interface will serve as a one-stop-shop for access to all of BlockStamp’s live applications. In it you can get a quick overview of everything you can do with BlockStamp — and do it all!

BlockStamp’s capabilities will of course grow as the project matures. The applications in this first release of the desktop interface are just a starting point. It will soon be upgraded, for example, to provide a peer-to-peer clearnet domain naming system (DNS) as a disruptively meddle-proof alternative to the centralized one in common usage today.

Moving forward, we will be blazing more trails into the digital economy. And when we do, you will be able to access them first via the desktop interface.

And as a result:

This interface proudly puts function over form.

You can find concepts like decentralization, liberty, and fairness promised by just about any crypto project. But not all of those crypto projects actually deliver on those promises. And many of those projects, unfortunately, use these concepts as window dressing for some kind of scam.

That’s why at BlockStamp we believe in letting the technology speak for itself to anyone who would like to listen. In other words, enabling technically-minded users to “look under the hood” and see if the architecture works as promised was, is, and will be a top priority.

Of course not all users want to dig into our code and get their hands dirty, so to speak. As outlined above, we’ve got online interfaces launching soon for users who don’t.

But for users who do, all of our code is open-source and this desktop interface is a barebones way to make sure all the pieces fit together as they should. No bells and whistles, just functionalities.

Download your copy of the BlockStamp desktop interface here and take it for a spin! To make transfers or place bets, you’ll need BST that you can buy on PicoStocks.

About BlockStamp:

BlockStamp is a multipurpose Bitcoin blockchain fork developed by the BlockStamp Foundation, a not-for-profit organization. Designed to promote liberty, transparency, and sovereignty in areas of the digital economy where these fundamental values are most at risk, BlockStamp is built in to a radically fair gambling platform, a digital tool for transparently sealing data, and a censorship-proof internet Domain Naming System.
