The 13 Most Interesting Events at Berlin Blockchain Week
Berlin is a burgeoning center for blockchain. As decentralised as the technology itself, Berlin Blockchain Week is a community-organized initiative with no single owner or organiser. It is an agnostic movement based on the premise that self-organization is the backbone of the ecosystem, with various events planned by the people, for the people. Tuesday, 4th September
- Disruptive Thinking in Blockchain
18:30–22:00 at Blockchain Embassy
CoinFund and Chorus One presented various projects that featured decentralised P2P protocols for value exchange, customised blockchain networks, blockchain for gaming and Proof-of-Stake blockchain networks. CoinFund is a cryptoasset-focused investment and research firm. Chorus One operates validating nodes and staking services for Proof-of-Stake blockchain networks.
Wednesday, 5th September
- Non-Fungible Future
18:30–22:00 at Point Nine HQ
Non-Fungible Future, hosted by Point Nine Capital and CryptoDecks, seeks to bring together builders and early adopters to discuss non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and their future. Point Nine Capital is an early-stage venture capital firm primarily focused on SaaS and online marketplaces. CryptoDecks has a platoform enabling users to easily keep track of and organise cryptogoods such as NFTs and blockchain games.

- All about Security Tokens
19:00–21:00 at Rent24
Tonight, Neufund and Brickbock discuss all things security tokens and why they are the next best thing. Berlin-based Neufund specialises in legal-tech and reg-tech and built a platform that enables companies issue security tokens through Equity Token Offerings (ETO). Brickblock is a decentralised, asset-backed token exchange that has built a smart contract platform allowing investors to sell and trade tokenized assets on blockchain.

- Dezentral Berlin — Blockchain Conference

The Dezentral Conference brings together newcomers, builders, and crypto enthusiasts in the heart of Berlin for an inclusive gathering around blockchain. There are over 40 speakers (many founders and C-level) from Europe, Asian and the U.S., and over 500 guests are attending. Dezentral is a community initiative by 1kx, a token angel fund that seeks to embed cryptoincentives into everything!

Ethereum Identity Standard will present the ERC-725 Alliance and also present the Origin Protocol. The ERC-725 Alliance is a proposed standard for blockchain-based identity. Origin Protocol is a blockchain platform for building peer-to-peer decentralised marketplaces. Organised by ‘Blockchain, peaq & Beyond’, Base58 regularly hosts this meetup series curated for blockchain enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, engineers, investors and anyone interested in the fascinating world of Distributed Ledger Technology.

SIBB e.V., Berlin Partners and FIBREE have organised an event at the intersection of real-estate and blockchain technology, with a specific focus on relations between Germany and Poland. SIBB is an association bringing together relevant market players in the sector, organising events and outreach. Berlin Partners is a partnership connecting the business and technology sectors to promote companies, investors and research institutions for wider collaboration. FIBREE is an international network for knowledge exchange among the real estate industry, the IT sector and blockchain technology.

Saturday, 8th September
- East Meets West — Culture Differences in the Crypto Space
18:30–21:30 at Full Node
As the West rushes to regulate crypto, the East seems to be crushing its development, this event seem ever-relevant. Nervos Network, imToken, Origin Protocol and Cosmos have come together to discuss their projects and discuss the divide between East and West as well as cultural differences between the two. Nervos Network is a network of scalable and interoperable blockchains built on top of an open network, built for enterprises. ImToken is a digital asset wallet enabling multi-chain asset management. Origin is a protocol for creating sharing economy marketplaces using the Ethereum blockchain and Interplanetary File System Protocol. Cosmos is a decentralized network of independent parallel blockchains, each powered by classical Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus algorithms.

- Token Wirtschaft

Token Wirtschaft is a workshop that deep dives into the dynamic world of token engineering and protocols. The Token Foundry, Linum Labs and the Energy Web Foundation offer intimate, thought-provoking sessions with world-recognised speakers, music and a range of hands- on, relaxed workshops led by industry experts in token engineering and economics. The Token Foundry is a global platform where all can buy safely vetted tokens. Linum Labs is a software studio for blockchain architecture that strives to be at the forefront of Web3 thought leadership and production in Africa and Europe. The Energy Web Foundation is an open-source, scalable blockchain platform specifically designed for the energy sector’s regulatory, operational, and market needs.
- Blockchain for Financial Inclusion — Including the Unincluded
18:00–22:00 at Impact Hub
DSTOQ, GIZ Blockchain Lab and Jolocom are partnering for the 3rd Crypto4Good panel discussion, featuring experts from both the tech world and the international development sector. The event aims to define practical answers to financial exclusion and uncover how distributed ledger technology could bring about positive change in the world. DSTOQ’s mission is “exchange without borders” and is a licensed stock exchange enabling peer-to-peer trading of tokenized securities. GIZ Blockchain is the blockchain lab belonging to the socio-political research center, German Society for International Cooperation. Jolocom builds global infrastructure to support decentralized digital identity management.
Tuesday, 11th September
- Women in Blockchain Berlin: Cryptoeconomics & Token Design
18:30–22:00 at Full Node
This event will explore how systems of crypto economics, token design and decentralisation evolve and what aspects are important to take into account, posing the fundamental question: why should we care about crypto economics and token design? As a part of a global “Women in Blockchain” community which started out in New York, it has evolved into a global network with chapters around the world. Speakers represent various parts of the crypto and blockchain spaces.
