2019 has been a fantastic year for the BlockTrain team! We want to take this opportunity to thank all the active nodes in our network — from blockchain projects and investors to media and event-planning partners to all the members of our global community that continuously engaged with our news and service updates throughout the year. The input we’ve received from each one of you was essential to shaping our 2019 journey and helping us set the right goals for 2020. Here’s to a new year of high-return investments, international trend-setting events, and information sharing for a common goal: blockchain’s ever-evolving application development on a global scale.

In the meantime, please check our summary for BlockTrain’s corporate development in 2019:

Core-Business Shift

2019 marked a milestone for BlockTrain’s business model evolution — our primary focus as a blockchain company shifted from event planning and bilingual media curation to providing Investment Advisory services to blockchain-centered startups.

This decision emerged as a byproduct of our management team’s keen observations and restless interactions with multiple agents in the blockchain industry. In 2019, we realized we could leverage the extensive network we had built for events and global press releases, which included the brightest blockchain projects in Silicon Valley, Asia, and Europe, and some of the industry’s most avid investors, to facilitate early-stage investments.

New corporate focus on Investment (or Financial) Advisory Services

BlockTrain was founded in 2017, during Bitcoin’s boom, and we are proud to grow with the industry, providing dynamic solutions that attend to market demands. As we focused on Investment Advisory (or FA) services, our team of experts — with the assistance of our experienced advisors — developed a 5-step methodology to ensure early-stage blockchain projects get the financing they need in half the usual time, launch on major trading platforms worldwide, and build their brand effectively to communicate with their target audience on a global scale.

Later on, we added three layers to our Investment Advisory offers to cover the needs of even more incipient blockchain ventures — those navigating the stages from ideation to validation. With the “Project Take-Off” and the “Startup Founding” plans, BlockTrain assists projects towards concept testing, prototyping, targeting and pitching to investors, and funding, of course.

Partnerships

In 2019, BlockTrain also reached strategic partnerships with multiple leading blockchain companies in our global industry to sustain the guarantee that we are the most qualified intermediary to connect the blockchain projects and investors in our network.

Here are some of our dear partners who, in 2020, will continue to assist us in our mission to share blockchain resources and help blockchain projects optimize their financings, listing processes, and international promotion:

  • CRC Capital, the Beijing-based blockchain investment bank that accelerated the development of BlockTrain’s cross-border blockchain investment banking mechanism,
  • Jenga BCG, the Singapore-based Consulting Group whose diversified, blockchain-specialized units contribute directly to BlockTrain’s commitment to listing projects on top global trading platforms, building global branding, and offering long-term strategic support,
  • Jiaxing Blockchain Research Institute, Jiaxing’s regional platform for blockchain technology and application integrations, which assists BlockTrain with the development and validation of four blockchain technology areas: network security, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and financial innovation, and
  • CoinAll, the OKEx exchange that deepens our expertise of P2P community-based platforms and safe and convenient token-listing processes.

In 2020, BlockTrain will continue to integrate the services and recommendations of the above partners, as well as all the others, to our business processes. We are excited to welcome even more partners to our network in the new year. Expect frequent announcements!

Events

Global Finblock Forum

BlockTrain started off 2019 with the right foot. On January 12th, with the help of Draper Dragon, we organized and hosted the first Global Finblock Forum in Silicon Valley — at Draper University. Engaging 500+ attendees, 50+ speakers, 100+ blockchain investors and incubators, and 20+ leading finance companies, our conference made history as the first one in the Bay Area to focus on the intersection of blockchain technology and finance.

Here are some insightful topics discussed in the panels and a few pictures from the Global Finblock Forum:

  • The Future of Share Trading and Digital/Crypto Asset Management,
  • Invest in Blockchain Technology and Leverage Security Token to Drive Business Growth, and
  • The Impact of Blockchain on Finance Services & Regulation.

3rd Red Boat Cup

In August, we co-organized and co-hosted with the Yangtze Delta Region Institue of Tsinghua University the U.S. Finale of the 3rd Red Boat Cup — Global Innovation Contest.

It was an honor to present and reward the 14 winning projects of the competition! The many incredible blockchain presentations we watched confirmed the elevated quality of blockchain initiatives in Silicon Valley and China. This experience, too, supported our mission to connect projects with a strong proof-of-concept to top investors.

SF Blockchain Week

BlockTrain was an Official Media Partner of 2019’s SF Blockchain Week — from October 28th to November 3rd. We made meaningful connections with many of the 5,000 attendees that joined the events and contributed to the discussions on the globalization of blockchain and effective fundraising processes for the industry’s revolutionary startups.

Canaan Inc. Promotion Conference

On November 18th, three days before Canaan’s historic listing on NASDAQ, the BlockTrain team co-organized and co-hosted the Canaan Inc. Promotion Conference in downtown San Francisco. Other co-organizers included the North America Blockchain Association (NABA), SWFT Blockchain, and Silicon Valley Blockchain Catalyst.

It was a full-house success! The blockchain-educated audience engaged with Canaan’s solutions and plans through a series of presentations and an insightful panel led by our CEO Mengfan Zhang on “the future of the mining market and digital assets”. Mengfan moderated the discussions on the future of mining machine market share, challenges in the “supercomputing” era, and talent management strategies.

BlockTrain is happy for having been a part of Canaan’s journey as the first global blockchain company to do an IPO. We are certain that many other successful projects in our network will achieve this milestone in the upcoming year!

Worldwide Finblock Summit

Later on, in December, we co-organized and co-hosted the second edition of our Worldwide Finblock Summit — in Xiamen, China. The global conference brought together blockchain funds, startups, mining pools, public chains, and wallets to explore trends towards the “credible digitalization” of blockchain.

The summit co-organized by SWFT Blockchain and NABA and co-hosted by CRC Capital, SVBC, and PLOUTOZ, among other partners, gathered over 700 attendees, representing 100+ blockchain businesses and organizations, 46 speakers, and over 60 media companies.

Zhang Mengfan, BlockTrain’s Founder & CEO, was the summit’s official host and moderator.

The conference took off with the inspiring opening remarks by Ramble, the Founder of SWFT Blockchain and NABA on the future of blockchain finance. Then, industry veterans took the stage, individually or as panelists, to engage the blockchain-educated audience on a variety of globally relevant topics. Here are some highlights of the discussions and a few pictures:

  • Huang Lianjin, Founder of Metaverse’s DNA, presented a “Next-Generation Financial Infrastructure Based on Blockchain”, addressing pain points of the current global financial system — such as information asymmetry, high transactional costs, and supervision difficulties, and why blockchain technologies emerge as an optimal solution;
  • The panelists on the “Blockchain Mining Finance” debate stated that mining machines are financial levers, and mining activities emerge with financial attributes. The combination of mining and financial tools can effectively attend to miners’ financial needs for digital asset transactions, loans, and investments. The mining industry grows steadily as a safeguard for crypto enthusiasts who are looking for alternatives to purchase currencies at a fixed price.
