Meet our new hire — Facundo Pezzola, Full Stack Developer

We’d like to introduce our latest hire, Facundo Pezzola! He’s joined the BlockWallet team as a Full Stack Software Engineer. Facundo will be using his diverse experience gained from a variety of industries to help deliver a BlockWallet Extension. With his thirst for learning and vast knowledge of crypto, we can’t wait for him to get started.

What’s your job position?
My position at BlockWallet as a Full Stack Software Engineer that’s currently focused on working to deliver the BlockWallet extension. One of the reasons I’m so excited to work at BlockWallet, is because I love learning new techniques and alternative approaches that exist in the Software industry. Every company and every developer is an incredible source of knowledge to learn from and I hope my co-workers can learn from my experience as well.
How long have you worked as a developer?
I’ve been working as a developer for eight years so far. I started in early 2014 doing some freelance jobs, before joining my first salary job in 2015. Since then, I’ve constantly increased the quality of the positions that I work in.
Which projects have you worked on before?
I have worked in multiple domains in the last few years. I’ve been involved in the telecommunications industry, developing applications used by 10M+ Argentinians. I also worked in a SaaS company within the supply chain management niche where I then transitioned to my most recent position in the advertising industry for a mobile-gaming company. Now it’s crypto time and I could not be more excited!
When did you first get involved in crypto?
I first got involved in crypto two years ago, but only for some basic currency exchange. Last year, I heard about the “Web3” concept which really captured my attention. Ever since that moment, I knew I wanted to work in the crypto world, which has led me to this current position.
What do you like the most about crypto?
I really like that blockchain technology challenges the concept of centralized economies. It challenges the traditional economy where a single entity has complete control over your funds. By taking back ownership of data, privacy, and power from large corporations, we’re able to create a decentralized world that creates an equal opportunity for anyone and everyone.
What made you interested in BlockWallet?
What interested me the most with BlockWallet is their mission to achieve privacy and security in the blockchain space. Since the very beginning (when I read the whitepaper), I couldn’t agree more with the necessity of privacy in this new decentralized world moving forward. With anyone being able to access your financial history by simply knowing your wallet address, BlockWallet is a mandatory addition to the decentralized ecosystem.
Why do you think privacy matters on blockchains?
Although blockchain technology was created to make the world a better place, there are others who take advantage of this technology to scam and steal. Privacy is one of the ways to mitigate this problem and stop malicious activity in this space. BlockWallet hides your wallet address using smart contracts to ensure that your identity stays separate from your financial activity on the blockchain.
Do you have any predictions on where crypto will be 5 years from now?
Recently, I have seen a lot of coins and new crypto products coming to life meaning that it is a technology that is being used all around the world. What I can imagine in the following years, with the usage of this technology, is that only a small percentage of projects will remain. But from my perspective, this industry has just gotten started.
