Hello there dear reader of blockwhat?,

as the year is slowly coming to an end (at least according to the most widely used calendar in the world), I’d love to take a moment and to express my sincere gratitude for the last three months.

I am more than happy that this little project of mine, which has consumed a lot of time and energy, is growing and still gives me a lot of joy to work on.

From the start, the main motivation behind this project has been to provide one central (how paradoxical, no?) place online, where you can find all the relevant information to get started grasping the complexity and the groundbreaking potential that this new technological paradigm possesses. This motivation stems mainly from the experiences that I’ve made very venturing into this whole topic — I remember vividly how overwhelming and confusing all of this was (and sometimes still is).

While all of the relevant information was there, it was scattered all over — and often either too superficial or way too technical.

That’s why I decided to create the resource that I wished that I would’ve had when I started this journey — blockwhat?.

The Stories

The first part of this little project focused on exploring the fascinating history that paved the way for the blockchain revolution that was to come. We’ve gotten to know the people behind all the ideas that played an important role in making this happening, looked at their ideas and grasped their motivations.

These were the three most read stories:

’98 | Wei Dai — Who dat?

’98 | Make It Rain (Bit) Gold!

’04 | Use me baby, one more time

So What’s Coming Up Next?

The upcoming articles will be mainly part of the new series on Technological Foundations, in which we explore the technological fabric that makes blockchain technology so unique and powerful.

These are the first three post that have seen the light of day:

The Tech Behind Blockchains

A Journey Into Decentralization

Hash(ing) Everywhere — A Primer On Hash Functions

Once concluded, we will start to look at actual use cases of this innovative technology, some already existing, other still rather theoretical. Nevertheless, this will be a fascinating journey into the potential future we’re heading towards.

To finish this letter, I’d love to wish you a wonderful end of this exciting year and hope that you’re having a pleasant time.

I’m very grateful for all the interest and support I have received during the last three months and simply want to say thank you!

I am very much looking forward to a new year full of intriguing new developments, fascinating stories and captivating people — we’re definitely in for a wild blockchain ride.

All the best from Tunis
