November Debt Board

November is the month to give thanks, and although I try to be consciously thankful EVERY month, I couldn’t help but feel even more in the spirit as I was making this month’s debt board.

As a recap, my husband and I are on a mission to pay off all our debt. Something that helps us keep motivated is to always have a visual reminder of the work we’ve done: the debt board.

As I was doing our end of month calculations, I realized that we have almost $20,000 less debt than we did when we began on April 10th.

$15,711.91 of that was cash flowed by us!! Had we just been paying minimums this whole time, that number would look a lot closer to $5,000.

Because of the car accident (which totaled our car and gave us a good reimbursement value) and a student loan forgiveness benefit that kicked in, we added to that $15,711.91 to get nearly $20,000 gone.

I’m thankful for the progress we’ve made.

I’m thankful for a husband who communicates well.

I’m thankful for a marriage built on teamwork and common goals.

$20,000 down… $40,000 to go, but the end is truly in sight!
