BEDS & VEDS: The Art of a Tasty Bagel — September 5th, 2017

Greetings, fellow BEDS & VEDS-ies (and readers of all stripes)!

I am a bagel connoisseur. I love em all — plain, everything, poppy seed, and cinnamon raisin; Jalapeno, multigrain, rye, and blueberry. With or without toppings.

One of my favorite bagel combinations is the Chicken, Egg, and Cheese. It’s just plain ol’ delicious-o, y’all. Chick-fil-A’s Chicken, Egg, and Cheese bagel is to DIE for, and Dunkin’ Donuts’ is QUITE exquisite. When I make my own at home, I usually take some pieces of rotisserie chicken, stack them on a dab of mayonnaise, scramble two eggs in a cast iron skillet, fold them over a piece of cheese, add a dab of salt, and serve it up on whatever bagel suits my fancy (usually everything or multigrain).

Today, I had TWO bagels. I didn’t plan to, but I sure can’t complain. We got a whooooole sheet of those BoGo McDonald’s coupons in the mail, and of course, I can’t turn down a bagel (even one from McDonalds). I got a Steak, Egg, and Cheese bagel, and it was great! But it probably could have been better with just a dab of sauce instead of the big ol’ dollop that was on there. For the second bagel, I got Bacon, Egg, and Cheese, and I just presumed someone else in my family would eat it. It turns out, nobody wanted it, so I had that one for lunch and it had almost the perfect amount of sauce on it. Can’t complain there.

Fact is, I could easily see myself eating a bagel everyday. But I know that’s not great for my diet, and so I don’t eat a bagel everyday. But I always try to eat one or two every month, at the very least, to retain my bagel cred.

Until next time,
