IP CRIME UNIT TO FIGHT ONLINE PIRACY

The state government of Maharashtra, has given its assent to set-up Maharashtra Intellectual Property Crime Unit.

Motion Pictures Association of America’s Indian Unit and the Film and Television Producers Guild of India joined hands last month to fight the menace of online piracy. The budget of this new unit will depend on what kind of technology it would propose of offer to combat the problem.

Inspired by the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) of the United Kingdom, which is a specialist national police forced dedicated to protecting online industries and service providers.
