Futsal is an indoor ball sport that requires quick thinking, communication between players, and good ball-handling skills. To achieve success in futsal competitions, athletes must effectively manage a high-tempo pace during matches.
Here are some practical tips from young professional players to manage a fast rhythm in futsal matches.
Adam Ahlan, 21 Years Old
As a professional futsal athlete with the Fafage Vamos club competing in the Pro Futsal League, Adam Ahlan also holds an active student status at Trisakti University in Jakarta.
Initially, Adam admits that he felt awkward and nervous during his first professional match. Understandably, he had just started as a professional player in 2023 in a national futsal league.
“I usually only played at the inter-campus level — the level is different. In Fafage, the opponents are faster and stronger, so initially, I felt a bit awkward,” said Adam.
After some time of practicing and playing with his teammates at Fafage Vamos, Adam managed to overcome his problem and calm himself down from the tense atmosphere of the match.
“The opponents are all good, and the intensity of the game is very high, right?” he recalled. “So, before the match, when I’m in the locker room, I always call my parents, and this habit calms me down.”
In addition, the high-intensity warm-up also prepares him physically so that his stamina and performance don’t drop and he’s not easily injured during the match.
Gradually, his confidence continued to grow, which further solidified his steps in the Indonesian professional futsal world.
Muhammad Rizki, 21 Years Old
As a management major student at Perbanas Institute, Rizki applies the knowledge he learns on campus to ensure that he can play futsal well with his club, Fima 13 Depok.
“The most important thing in futsal is communication between teammates, besides ball-handling skills, right? We have to focus, and concentrate, so we can cover each other when there is a wrong position,” said Rizki.
Furthermore, he emphasizes that physical endurance, especially the strength of the legs and stamina in running, is crucial because futsal is a sport with a very high cardio level.
“I usually do fitness and agility training. This is important because, in futsal, we move continuously without breaks, the game tempo is also very high, so the body must be ready,” he added.
Therefore, it’s clear that managing a high-tempo pace in futsal requires a combination of communication between players, individual skills, physical endurance, and mental calmness before and after the match.
