In contrast to individual sports, athletes in team sports such as futsal and soccer must be able to share many things with their teammates.

Apart from physical strength and mastering techniques, futsal and soccer athletes must also be able to work together as a team for a collective victory.

What do futsal and soccer athletes do to set aside their egos for the team’s success?

Mochamad Rafly Zidny, 20 Years Old

According to Zidny, the key to success for futsal athletes is discipline, diligent training, and taking responsibility for the position assigned by the coach.

“Playing futsal indeed requires putting aside ego. In addition, one must be able to communicate on the field. If a teammate is facing difficulties, we can assist or exchange positions. We must both strive hard for the team’s success,” Zidny explains.

To build team solidarity, Zidny’s coach always motivates the team before a match.

“Usually, the coach reminds the players to collaborate as a team. Even if someone feels they have an advantage, they must still fight their ego and prioritize the team during matches.”

As for his development as a better athlete, Zidny always takes care of his physical condition, trains regularly outside the club, and continually improves his skills.

Muhammad Iqbal, 18 Years Old

According to this athlete born on July 25, 2005, players must know their objectives. If they truly want to win, they must be able to set aside their egos to secure victory.

“To succeed as a team, one must establish a playing rhythm. If everyone is not on the same wavelength, the performance won’t be good because there is no unity,” says Iqbal.

On the field, Iqbal practices to master rotations and find empty spaces to avoid colliding with his teammates.

“The rest is about executing the game according to our abilities and implementing what we have been trained for,” he adds.

In addition to discipline and diligent training, according to Iqbal, the key to futsal team success in a match is to pray together for victory, teamwork, and maintain mental resilience.

“We must be patient and avoid getting emotional. We shouldn’t strive to win individually because this is a team effort; we win or lose together.”

Septian David Maulana, 26 Years Old

Septian states that adapting to a team at the beginning can be challenging. However, after frequently meeting, practicing, and interacting, it becomes easier to communicate with each other.

“In soccer, you can’t be seen as skilled if you only focus on yourself. The key is to communicate with the team, build unity, and when on the field, focus on our respective positions,” says the athlete born on September 2, 1996.

Based on his experience, Septian explains that coaches always remind the players to stay united, focused, and work together on the field for a collective victory.

Not only during training sessions or matches, but athletes usually also communicate with each other after the game to evaluate their performance for the betterment of the team in the future.
