5 Best Ways to Monetize Your Blog (Besides Google Adsense).
Google AdSense has never been my ‘favorite’ way to monetize my blog.
Ask any ‘newbie’ blogger how he/she is planning to monetize his/her blog and the answer will be ‘Google Adsense’.
On the other hand, ask any experienced blogger what is the ‘worst’ way of blog monetization. And the answer will be same- ‘Google Adsense’.
Adsense really makes bloggers beg for ‘pennies’ if they are not getting over thousands of visitors on your blog per day.
Enough talk of Google Adsense. Now, let’s discuss the other best ways to monetize your blog beside Adsense.
1. Affiliate marketing:
This monetization method is really simple and effective!! No need to create or own the product. Just divert your blog traffic to other people’s product and earn a profit (as commissions) for every sale. (Amazon associates pay a commission of between 2–12% for their affiliates.)
So, if you are in the fitness niche, and you are promoting an expensive shoe to increase the running speed of the runners, you’ll get a 12% commission on every sale. (And 12% commission on the expensive shoes can really make you good money)
Besides, you do not have to worry about creating the product, payment system, product delivery or customer support. Just promote the product, make sales and earn the profit.
2. Kindle Publishing:
Most of the book authors struggle to find readers for their book. But hey, you already have a large traffic of readers. Just make them your ‘book audience’ and sell your ‘kindle’ book to them. There are two benefits of publishing book on Kindle:
- You do not have to worry about setting the payment system.
- Amazon itself has a large number of audience. People come on Amazon to buy products. And if you have written a good book, then you can make a large number of customers, along with your regular blog customers.
3. Coaching/Consultancy:
You have a fitness blog. Great, coach your blog viewers for yoga, weight reduction, running for marathons etc. Further, if you have a personal finance blog, give consultancy to your blog readers about how to invest, how to save money, how to save tax etc.
For almost all blog niches you can find some way to provide coaching or consultancy. And hey, there is no free lunch, right? Charge your readers for providing coaching or consultancy.
4. Sell online course:
Best passive way to earn money. Create an amazing course and sell it to your audience. Although it isn’t that ‘passive’ as it sounds as you have to keep marketing your course, however, by creating funnels you can automate the selling process.
5. Sponsored Posts/Reviews/Banners
Although I don’t like this way of monetization my blog ‘much’, however, you can earn a good amount of money through sponsored posts or reviews.
If your blog is getting a lot of views, many a time, you are paid just to add a link to your sidebar or footer. And you know what is even better here? The payment is monthly.
However, while doing Sponsored Posts/Reviews/Banners, always keep in my that it doesn’t affect your blog reputation. A short-term gratification should not hurt your long-term income.
