How to block someone on Medium and what that means
Medium allows writers to block other users on the platform, with relative ease.
There are a number of reasons that you may want to block a reader/writer:
- Harassment — Some readers spend way too much time aggressively commenting on your Medium articles. This can range from constant negative responses to your content to overt threats.
- Inappropriate or Irrelevant Comments — Sometimes readers lash out at the author of an article or even other readers who are leaving comments on your articles.
- Plagiarist/Copyright Violations — I’ve personally dealt with this many times on Medium. Yes, you can try to report plagiarism to Medium. But you will typically receive a generic form email and have to spend hours going through the tedious process of filing a DCMA claim. Blocking a user that is stealing your work is not a perfect fix, as there are ways around the block, but it is a pretty good obstacle, in my experience.
