It is no doubt that influencer marketing is becoming more and more prevalent within the Fashion and Retail space. Brands are able to connect with their consumers through creators who engage with the brand in an authentic and relevant way. If influencer marketing is used in your brand strategy, the ultimate goal is to find influencers who align with your brand and have the ability to market to and engage with your consumers.

We chat with brands daily who approach influencer marketing in an organic way (product in exchange for a non- guaranteed social post) but ultimately how do you build longer partnerships and take more control over your influencer strategy? Influencers who build a real connection with your product and relationship with your brand can be the key to driving awareness and sales.

Unboxing & Customized Product

A customized product, or unboxing haul for influencers can garner excitement and an unforgettable experience for both the influencer and their audience. Influencers will unbox the product that is specifically customized to them playing up the external presentation, and internal surprise of what’s inside the box. This is an opportunity for you to market your product to the influencer and their audience in a thoughtful customized way. We recommend customizing a note to each influencer to make the experience that much more memorable! Unboxing hauls are great ideas for your top influencers key life moments (ie: birthdays, recently engaged, baby on the way, new homeowners, etc!)

Ambassador Programs

Finding influencers who are able to commit to your brand for a long term partnership can be incredibly beneficial. There’s a difference between a creators audience seeing a sponsored post once in their feeds, versus many. The more times the audience views the post in a matter of weeks and/or months, the more authentic and committed the influencer appears to the product, ultimately generating trust to their audience. Our best advice in determining top performers for a long term partnership is an initial PILOT program which will allow for you to optimize for success. Those whose content you find most align with your brand, or engagement & conversion you find to be top performing would be those you’d look to continue to activate. Building relationships and garnering ambassadorships with creators who are passionate about your brand will lead to an increase in brand awareness and conversions.

Events & Experiential

Getting influencers in-stores, at events, attending pop-ups, etc. will allow for influencers to really portray their affinity to the brand. Influencers can create content before, during, and after the event to further increase foot traffic to your ideal location and generate awareness around the product or retail location. We find that the human interaction between influencers and their audience at events garner excitement around the product and brand. Finding influencers who are located in your vicinity to attend an event or in-store experience can be the first step to this initiative.

Commission Based Incentives

We find that brands are more and more so compensating creators based upon their performance. The amount of subscriptions an influencers audience signs up for, number of products they buy, or downloads they garner, can be compensated to the influencer via commission whether that be a specific amount per conversion or a percentage of the product value. When influencers commit to these types of deals, they have full control of their compensation, and often include added value posts to their feeds in order to generate further conversions. Though some influencers may not be open to these partnerships, it’s a great extension to explore.
