Project X-Mode

This past summer, I was given the rare opportunity to work not only as the head of X-Mode’s Video Production Team but also as its one and only employee.

Being my own manager and my own subordinate presented its challenges, as you can imagine. When it came to keeping myself to deadlines, I had no choice but to be a hardass — I know better than anyone how lazy I can be without proper motivation. And if my boss was riding my ass? Well, I had no one to blame but myself.

All joking aside, my experience making video content for X-Mode was one of a kind. While I started at this company as an operations intern and later a copywriter, videography and filmmaking are where my true passion lies. Josh Anton and the other execs at X-Mode recognized this, and they allowed me to follow this passion so I could create value for the company the best way I could.

My main project for the summer was a corporate culture video, in which I took a deep dive into what makes X-Mode what it is. I interviewed employees at all levels — from the CEO to the interns — about the company’s unique history, as well as their vision of the future.

I’ve worked for X-Mode for over a year now, but it wasn’t until I started this documentary-style film that I felt like I really knew the company. I learned about the day to day of all the different departments. I talked to people about their favorite memories at the company, as well as the greatest challenges they’ve faced. I discovered X-Mode’s identity as a company by getting to know the people who make it work.

And what did I learn? Well, I could go on and on about the funny, brilliant, hard-working team that makes X-Mode such a great place to work. I could tell you all about Josh Anton’s inspiring story, or the truly innovative technology that we developed almost by accident.
