About Christen

This Southern California native, was a four-year starter and a two-year team captain on her high school soccer team at the prestigious Chadwick School in Palos Verdes. She lead her high school team to two Southern Section Division IV titles and was named NSCAA High School All-American and Parade Magazine All-American. With an undeniable future in professional soccer that would eventually take her out of state, Christen elected to play soccer at a nearby college, Stanford University. While at Stanford, Press became the schools’ all-time leading scorer, with 71 goals. She also broke school records for career points (183), assists (41), shots (500), single-season records for shots (180) and game-winning goals (10). In her Senior Year, Christen was selected as Soccer America Player of the Year, Pac-10 Player of the Year and was selected to the All-Pac-10 first team, NSCAA first-team and was awarded All-American honors.

In 2011, Christen was selected fourth overall in the Women’s Pro Soccer Draft and was awarded the US Soccer Federation’s Rookie of the Year award! After her first year in the league, the WPS folded and Christen took her talents overseas, spending three seasons playing professionally in Sweden. In 2014, she came back to the States to join the Chicago Red Stars. True to her form, Christen made an immediate impact in Chicago and scored a team-high six goals and was awarded the team’s Golden Boot Award for her incredible performance.

In 2012, Press’s dreams came true when she received a call from the US Women’s National Soccer Team saying that she had made the roster. Since then, Press has simultaneously represented her club team and the US National Team. In 2015, the USWNT were preparing to compete in the FIFA World Cup Games. As one of the youngest players on the roster, Christen earned the respect of her teammates in the opening game when she scored a goal, leading the team to victory and advancing them in the tournament. Christen was a crucial contributor and leader on and off the field, and ultimately, the team made it to the Finals and were crowned World Champions! Even with all of this popularity, what is perhaps most impressive about Christen is her humbleness and her desire to use the platform that she has established as an athlete and role model to positively impact underprivileged youth. She hopes to establish a Foundation in the near future that gives back to those that are less fortunate.
