NgColombia: Interview with speaker Laura Ciro
- 🅰 What is it that you like the most about Angular?
I like 2 things about angular:
The magic; all great concepts and functionalities, it’s really not magic but hard work of great developers that sometimes I don’t understand (YET). “Magic” that allows us to create a stronger and scalable APP.
The community; is very kind, compassionate and helpful.
2. ✈️ Why did you apply as a speaker for NgColombia?
This year, I have been getting out of my comfort zone although I didn’t plan it, I just began to say yes (like the movie). Honestly, it’s not easy but is worth it. Talk at NgColombia is an example of that. I’m honored to share with all of you my experiences and learning.
3. 💾 Why did you become a developer?
Basically, my mother told me: “my love, you have to study that computers thing. It seems to be the future”. My mother didn’t have the opportunity to finish primary school, but she became such a wise and brave woman.
4. 🥇 What do you feel more proud of in your career?
Every challenge that I have successfully solved in a team makes me proud.
5. 💻 What is your current tech stack? (editors, OS, laptop)
I’m lazy with my tech stack, I have to admit it. I use VScode for all JS, Sublime for Ruby, I have this cool Oh my Zsh theme https://github.com/mashaal/wild-cherry in the terminal with custom modifications in the emojis. Mac at work, Linux at home.
6. 📀 What is your current favourite artist/song/band?
Artist: Pedro Pastor ( they help me to unlearn some things from my education that do not represent me )
Song: Global Warming — Gojira( they only make masterpieces )

7. 🚴 What do you do in your leisure time?
I sleep a lot and serve to my cat in my leisure time.
8. 🍛 What is your favorite (and least favorite) food?
Favorite: Chopped sausage and French fries

9. ✌️ Why should developers learn Angular?
From my experience, Angular bring me tools and concepts that made me a better developer. It’s challenged at first but then it’s amazing, the architecture allows us to create large and maintainable apps easier.
10. 👨👩👧👦 What are your views on inclusion and diversity in technology?
For me, is important caring about diversity and inclusion, the way I try to collaborate is:
- Given voice
- Encourage
- Make visibility as much as I can the efforts and achievements of people with less representation.
