We’ve designed Blood in a very specific way — to help solve big problems faced by our clients’ brands and businesses.
We offer fast solutions that deliver platform thinking and collaborative execution.
We don’t pitch. We’re project-based. We’re not looking for a permanent slot on the P&L and we’re entirely neutral when it comes to solution, with no franchise to peddle.
We love a good question
We’re obsessed by questions. Beautifully framed, simple questions that unlock the strategic and creative process. The right question gives direction to a team, lends a structure by which to evaluate work and creates a process that is absolutely focussed on getting to one thing, the right answer.
We’re also obsessed by answers. Wonderfully designed, simple answers that unlock value for brands and businesses. So obsessed are we that we’ve 100% designed our business to get to answers for our clients as quickly and brilliantly as possible.
Here are some questions we solved for recently…
How might we: launch a new product without a reliance on broadcast media? Gather the fashion industry around a charitable cause? Accelerate the medium of VR? Get people to spend more time with us in airports?
You’ll note that all of the above questions are pretty ‘big’ ones. They’re deep in business and brand considerations. We’re at our best when working upstream, long before a brief might be more traditionally handed over.
Our process
We put teams of brilliant people in a room together without job titles or politics. We agree a question at the beginning of the process and we then work in structured, deliberate way together to get to the answer.
We do this in collaboration with you; workshopping, hypothesising, prototyping and designing our way together, iterating towards a solution. This is a deeply satisfying process if done well. Our clients become our co-creators and the process keeps moving forwards because all the key elements in it have been agreed together before we move on.
There’s nothing particularly new in what we do or in how we work. We’ve borrowed the best bits from one or two books that we love and synthesised them for the marketing world today.
The Blood Accelerator
Our core product is the Accelerator. It’s is a structured series of strategic and creative sprints that move us from a question to an answer as quickly as possible.
An accelerator lasts for four weeks.
This means that working with us is more involved than traditional agency process would be. There are collaborative meetings that it’s key to have your stakeholder participation in. We do stuff together.
At the end of the Accelerator, we deliver a blueprint. This contains strategy, a creative idea, outline executions and a business model.
Platform thinking
At Blood we’re at our best when thinking totally independently of pre-conceived solutions.
This allows us to take a human-centric view of business and brand building, putting people at the centre of our universe, developing insights that connect them to our clients’ objectives and creating big, big ideas — platforms — that will run for years, wherever they are needed and for whomever they might be useful to.
Platforms give rise to behavioural brands — brands that play a role in people’s lives, create value for people, treat them as people, kin, blood. We like behavioural brands very much.
Collaborative execution
After the blueprint has been delivered, it’s time to move into execution.
At Blood, we’re not obsessed with owning the production of the platforms and ideas that we create. In fact, we’re super-collaborative, preferring to work with world-class partners.
(Technology constantly mutates and spawns new specialisms. We consider it unrealistic to build capabilities that truly master all of the execution options available to us.)
We’re part of the You & Mr Jones brandtech group. This gives us access to best-in-class partners in data, content creation and distribution, AR & VR and AI-driven conversational marketing. We love working with these people but are equally happy to collaborate outside the group.
We work with agencies and increasingly with internal client teams. It’s important to make sure that the integrity of our work is maintained but beyond that we think it makes us better to get others involved.
