Trailer/Prologue : The Chronicle of the Spring and Autumn Period
The Spring and Autumn Period (春秋时代) is one of the most famous and important eras in Chinese history. It lasted for more than 300 years. In this period, China was fragmented into numerous feudal states. They used literally all means to compete with one another for political, economic and territorial supremacy. This makes this period no less interesting than the more famous Three Kingdoms era. Unfortunately, there are few books in English about this period.
Throughout this period, there were many interesting stories, which are enthralling enough to become numerous Chinese maxims, idioms, and proverbs. They were stories of infatuated rulers, immoral betrayals, wise advisers, brilliant generals (Some you might already know: Sun Tsu or Sun Wu), loyal retainers, artful lobbyists and even much more.
I am not a historian, and I am not pretending to be one. I am a history-lover, so I have access to several primary sources and secondary sources related to this era. I would try my best to retell these great stories to you.
I hope everyone would enjoy this.
