BloomX Launch
On Tuesday, May 29, in the heart of Makati’s central business district, we officially launched BloomX — our vision for making cryptocurrencies more accessible and safer in Asia.
Attended by over 100 people, this was a private event for our partners, supporters, and users of our system.
We celebrated how, in the last two and half years, we’ve been successful at reducing the cost of remittances for thousands of migrant Filipinos all over the world. We’ve accomplished this by using cryptocurrencies as a settlement mechanism for Money Transfer Operators (MTOs), and have powered over $125 million in transactions since our inception.
Continuing in our ethos of partnership, we unveiled the new application platform that will infuse Foreign Exchange (FX) dealers and Philippine Pawnshops with the ability to buy and sell cryptocurrencies over the counter.
We also discussed our decision to use Stellar as our underlying blockchain, and introduced the BX8 token which will be used to power the services in our new ecosystem.
We were joined by our partners and advisors, including: Czarina Ong of Czarina Foreign Exchange, Wincent Hung of Genesis Block, and Topax Colayco of the Colayco Foundation.
