Relaunching Blue Western

Sometimes, when running a company, its time to take a look at the way you have been doing things and refocus. This process constantly keeps a small business innovating, however this tweak is more of a realignment, so we felt it appropriate to be more forthcoming and describe what it was like and how we are doing it.

Ever since Zach and I (Steven) started working on the idea that would become Blue Western, we knew it was going to be something that would be difficult.

We have faced a ton of trouble getting our creative visions into the real world and building business sense as we go. After our initial surge of engagement and buzz, we hit a rookie wall of sorts. This is why we went back to the board to reevaluate.

Okay, insert freeze frame, rewind. Some of you may not know how we got here!

Zach and I have been friends for a while, ever since high school.

We started our company on December 14th, or at least that’s what our FB page says. I didn’t actually write it down.

Our company started like all good things, with a late night text.

I texted Zach that I had an idea ripening in my mind, and I said we needed to meet at IHOP to deliberate (IHOB?). We met and started throwing around a concept for a way to pursue our creative instincts and initiatives, while being able to also fund them.

As an aside the name Blue Western comes from our favorite color, blue, and the street that both our houses are on, Western, to tie it to the place where our friendship grew.

We started working almost right away, finding people we knew who needed photo and video work from our new company, Blue Western Media. We were complete novices when it came to working for clients, but we had inflated expectations due to our early successes.

I get really hype about random things all the time. After some time doing assorted media jobs in our first few months, I realized I had a huge interest in social media marketing and content creation so I dove in, having us start on every social, a blog, a vlog, video series, and podcasts.

And then we brought Lauren in, and she has brought a whole new factor and vivaciousness to the crew, in a delightful way. But we got to a place where my fervor was leading to us trying to make things that we were not passionate about, and then failing to meet those commitments.

Zach called an audible, and made us meet in the place that started it all, in the parking lot of our high school. There we decided that we needed to change and evolve, go beyond and find what we were going to be tomorrow. In a way, we needed to set a new goal and refine and renegotiate what we are/were.

So we did.

And over the last two weeks, we have been working on so much content and ideas to make things and to make our dreams and vision a reality.

We have been curating Instagram pages,

We are launching cinematics, a new take on our vlog,

We are relaunching blanket fort (my podcast), and adding a different podcast as well,

We are challenging our graphic design by making t shirts,

We are building for the now, and for the future.

Today is the first step. We are relaunching as a definite creative studio that will be focusing on Video production and social media marketing

We are going to be doing more than ever

If you are interested in supporting our creative efforts, like our podcasts or cinematics, or want to support us becoming a full creative agency, please follow our content on your favorite platform.

We appreciate every one of you who has supported us from our first video to every late post or video that didn’t get made. We are working on it, and we are excited to show you what we can do.
