January

Forbes publishes an article about the Bluecode payment scheme

We are delighted that Bluecode made it into the first German 2019 Forbes Magazine edition in January. This article described why it is so important for Europe to establish its own payment network.

This Forbes article was followed by an in-depth analysis of bankstil.de, written by finance and business expert Ralf Keuper.

And the award for the best customer value goes to … Bluecode!

At the Payment Exchange (PEX), a leading conference for merchants and service providers in the payment sector, we were honored with the Golden Transaction Award in the category “Customer Value”.

Bluecode beats Apple Pay and Google Pay

The German Institute for Service Quality tested 15 mobile payment providers from a consumer perspective. Bluecode was selected as the winner in the category “Pay in store” — ahead of Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Our CEO about the long-term consequences of Apple Pay:

“Once the customer journey is lost to the US providers, the entire value chain of European companies is in danger”.

We participated at the EuroCIS 2019

Together with our partners from SIX Group, we participated in this years EuroCIS. There we gave insights on how small and medium-sized businesses, as well as larger retailers, can benefit from accepting mobile payments with Bluecode.

Bluecode was featured in this year’s Austrian Startup Report

In March we presented Bluecode at the official release presentation of the Austrian Startup Report 2019. Why? Because Bluecode raised an investment of € 11.2 million in 2018 and is, therefore, part of the booming Austrian startup scene.

Globus integrated Bluecode into their “Mein Globus” app

In March, the brand new Globus store was opened in Chemnitz. From this time on, their customers now have the possibility to pay with the app “Mein Globus” due to the implemented Bluecode integration.

Another month, another great speech about the future of payment

Thanks for the opportunity to talk about mobile payment in Europe at this year’s Handelskolloquium in Schönbrunn. A highlight of this speech was the announcement of our rewards platform for merchants.

Bluecode officially introduces Bluecode Rewards

In April we launched our loyalty platform Bluecode Rewards in Austria and Germany. The platform gives merchants and banks the chance to link their customer loyalty programs with Bluecode payments on smartphones.

Growing every day. Will also Hungary pay with Bluecode soon?

Also in Hungary there is strong interest in using an independent European payment network.

Bluecode won the “Connected Mobility Business Hackathon #2”

During the hackathon, we worked together with payment solutions specialists from Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich on a payment system for motorcyclists.

We won the ECB Hackathon in Frankfurt

Ahead of strong competition such as from smartphone bank N26 and payment service provider Worldpay, we won the “Instant Payment Hackathon” of the European Central Bank (ECB). The goal was to develop a mobile payment solution within 24 hours, in which payments are received in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) without the delay of a bank business day on the recipient’s account.

We participated in a panel discussion at the EHI Card Congress

On the 7th of May, our CEO was part of a panel discussion at the EHI Card Congress to discuss the diversity in payment transactions and its complexity.
