“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.”

— Andy Rooney

They say, you got a little money, be content with your wealth,

Look at those baby muscles, be content with your health,

But when I look in the mirror, I can’t even stare at myself.

Scrolling through my feed, constantly comparing myself,

Talking to God every night, steadily praying for help.

Sometimes it’s the ones at the top with less respect for themselves.

Cuz regardless of where you go, there’s always farther to climb,

And no matter how far ahead you are, you always feel left behind.

That constant comparison starts to poison your mind.

They say rest your soul, but frankly I don’t have the time.

You satisfied yet?

Nope, I’m trying harder to shine.

Day after day, gotta stay on my grind.

And then one day you wake up and say, “What happened to time?”

Cuz it sure does fly, when you’re playing catch-up,

And just like an addict, it’s never enough.

But at a certain point, you got to wind down.

Cuz if you only look up, you won’t see how far you are from the ground.

Continue to rise, but take a look at where you’ve come.

You’ve made it to places they said could never be done.

And even though your ego will never be satisfied,

At the end of the day, you have to be content that you tried.

Cuz life is a journey that can never be won,

So keep moving forward until your time is done.
