Brownies & Cookies

A poem of war between two dark forces: the mind and stomach

Resistance,
a quality bore only
by the powerful.

Baked goodies,
enough to break
the resistance of
the powerful.

The deceitful smell
of fresh-baked cookies
engenders a ruckus in the body.

Stomach,
being bombarded with infinite butterflies.
Heart,
missing too many beats.
Mouth,
losing control of saliva generators.

A forbidden love story.

Villanous Mind,
too crude to understand the body’s yearning for BROWNIES!

The songs of war begin
with the rumble of the paunch.

Mind fighting a lost war
of control.
Yo! You had an entire cake half a minute ago!
The pooping hole
will have to work overtime.

Words left unheeded cuz
stomach too hypnotised to let go.

Body infested with a lust
for choco-filled goodness.

Mind no longer mentor
to evil little belly.

Mind no longer mindful;
Body prey to innocent cookies and brownies.

Maybe just one, please.
