Thank you for exposing me
To everything that didn’t surround me
You taught me to always work
Which has kept me grounded
No matter the job
I always tagged along
I never expected how much it would impact me
Later on
You taught me the value of self-worth as a woman
It helped me avoid the pain that many suffer from
You leveled me up
When the world screamed: “Give up”
You taught me to never settle
And to allow my anger to dissipate like water in a tea kettle
As the king of adventure
You taught me to never stay in one place
But to venture
And to always experience a different space
The greatest gift you gave me was exposure
I’ve reached heights most people like me have never been before
You didn’t have a father
But you could never tell
You gave us the gift of your fatherhood
Which set me up to succeed and do well
