Everything the Universe Had Wasn’t Enough to Kill Me

I have risen from darkness and am ready to dance in the flames

The universe conspired to destroy me.
A love I thought would never end shattered,
my job lost to a corporate insanity,
days chasing enough money to stay alive.

Enduring a darkness making me weep,
the tears of a man pushed to the edge of his faith.
Days leaving me sitting in the dark,
shaking in sweaty clothes,
growing angry at myself for not fighting back.

There is no more retreat,
there will be no more giving in.
I have taken all you can give;
I am still standing,
and I will take no more.

No more darkness,
no more tears,
I make my stand today.
You picked the wrong man universe,
because I love dancing in the fire.

Today I rage against a universe without mercy.
I will take back my life I gave up too easily.
My choice to live,
to fight,
to wreak hell on anyone in my way.

Build the fire,
break out the wine,
I have found my way out of the darkness,
now let me dance in the flames yet again.
