Evolution Is a Bitch

Sinking into the swim I’ve thirsted for.
I love the feel of the undertow — my escape path.
Tranquility flows over me.

My liquid knight.
Carry me from this place! I implore you!

Without warning or want, air is hastily injected into me.
And I resurface.
Oh, how I cry at my rebirth!

Being pulled from the womb I so ardently crave,
I fight to become a fish.
