Flood Warning

The walls are melting
with the rain inside
our home that drips
through our chimney
until we inhale
fluid through our lungs
with rhythmic beats
— drips
and
drops —
louder than in nature
that shatter my resting
hours and cause me
to want to leave this house
that is no longer a home
behind.
