Handling Burnout
A conversation on how to manage not losing your mind
So I came across this nifty book titled Burnout No More by
Burnout is something we all experience at some point in our lives. For some, it’s more frequent than others. For me, I think it’s a daily occurrence.
Or challenge.
I don’t know.
Often, we overlook it, and suddenly, our bodies fall into rest without us even catching up. That’s what happened to me, and wow, was it a crash. It manifests as a deep sense of exhaustion and emotional detachment that sneaks up on us, especially when life feels out of control, our to-do list seems to grow out of control, and everything feels overwhelming. This is a clear sign that a break is necessary. So, how can you manage burnout when you don’t know where to begin? Here are some steps for it.
Understanding Burnout
Burnout isn’t just a feeling. It’s a consistent and persistent state of stress that can drain you slowly. However, it seems fas,t especially when you crash. You can feel irritated, drained, and ineffective in burnout. Here’s what to look out for.
- Chronic fatigue, where even waking up feels like a tremendous effort.
- Cynicism, where you may find yourself questioning your work or relationships.
