In God’s Hands

Everybody,
in fact the entire
universe,
is in God’s hands;
so don’t worry so much
I reminded my friend
even though

sometimes I feel
like I’m just hanging on to Her
fingertips
about to fall into the
void

She replied she’d like
to push some people off
I reminded her
they needed instead
to be pushed
farther into Her palms
for extra support

The Hubble telescope
recently discovered
what we thought
unending darkness
was really
a cosmic ocean
of galaxies
bursting with stars
encompassed by planets

Scientists now agree
our universe did just appear
after a Big Bang
and it’s been expanding
ever since — accepting
this concept
even as atheists
because they never venture
into the biggest black hole
of their theory:
