Poem: Impossible City

A tribute to my current home of Edinburgh.

This poem was inspired by a fact that slowly dawned on me after I moved to Edinburgh and took to its compact streets by bicycle: it is impossible to go anywhere in this city of hills and ravines without having to go uphill at some point.

I walk up and down, up and down through
kaleidoscopes of grey stone closes of
the shifting…
