Remember When We Forgot?

We’ll never forget us

Home for dinner then out until dark,
Windows thrown open to cricket chorus,
Defying hum of conditioned air cautions,
Cookie crumbs under pillows, stickers in closet,
We ruled our world with sticky smiles, grubby feet.
